Based in Spring Hill, Tennessee, the company was founded by Martin Woodlee, a professional sound engineer and studio designer with more than 30 years of experience in music, production, and A/V systems.

Martin’s heart is to help others build what God has placed in their imagination.
With more than 30 years of experience in the music and audio industry, Martin helps churches, businesses, artists, and creators build spaces where ideas can come to life. Whether someone wants to own a home studio, upgrade a church production system, train volunteers, source professional equipment, or pursue work in the A/V industry, Martin brings a practical, hands-on approach to helping that vision become real.
He is known for being easy to work with, thorough, loyal, and committed to helping people find the right solution for their needs — not simply the most expensive one.
Built on Experience
Our History
Sound Word Light began in 2017, but Martin’s experience reaches back more than three decades.
Before launching the company, Martin spent years behind the mixing console as a sound engineer, developing the trained ear and technical understanding that now shape every studio he helps design. Over the years, Sound Word Light has served clients across Kentucky, California, Washington, Pennsylvania, Florida, Arkansas, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Much of the company’s early work focused on helping churches improve their audio and visual systems, train their teams, and create environments that better serve their congregations. Since then, Martin’s work has expanded into custom studios, theater sound systems, creative spaces, and commercial studio builds.
Recent projects include Create-It Studios and OneZeno Games, located inside Walmart stores in Franklin, Tennessee and Springdale, Arkansas — completed studio builds with the potential for more locations across the country.

Studios Built for Engineers, by an Engineer
Martin’s love for sound started early, serving as a sound volunteer at his church as a teenager. From there, his path led through recording studios, hands-on training, and formal audio education at Middle Tennessee State University, where he became a professional engineer.
His background is not just technical — it is deeply practical. Martin has worked on real projects, in real studios, with real artists and teams. That experience gives him a unique ability to understand what a space needs, not just on paper, but in practice.
Today, Martin brings that same trained ear and engineering mindset into every project. He understands how a room should sound, how a system should function, and how a creative space should feel.
